Your Watch Maker - Thomas Scowcroft
|
Tom started his horological career in Bolton, Lancashire as a seven year indentured apprentice Lanzetters, the clockmaker, watchmaker and jewellery company.
In 1969 Tom joined Mappin & Webb as a watch maker and in the mid 1970s he opened an agency for Omega Watch Company.
In the 1980s the scene changed dramatically for Tom. Mechanical watches rapidly went out of fashion with the introduction of quartz watches so he switched to restoring clocks for the British Metropolitan Museum
At the end of the 1980s, Tom began employment with Watches of Switzerland and when he left in 1990, travelled and worked extensively around the world before opening this workshop in Richmond upon Thames. He is currently President of the Rotary Club of Richmond. |
